If I tell you to name day-to-day materials that are brittle in nature, what’d the answer be?

Let me answer it for you: Plastic. Yet, this is one material we’ve made a constant part of our lives. Naturally, plastic materials are things we can’t live without.

In the cases, they age, get brittle, and break away… people replace them. But sometimes we have no choice but to fix them. Fixing plastic items or joining them by hand is almost unheard of. We have a dedicated tool just to take care of the mess. Yes, the plastic welders or welding kits!

Heat them up to a certain temperature, melt the broken pieces of plastic, and join them. That’s all one needs to do. This is a cheaper alternative than to buy a new product altogether.

The trick here is to find the best plastic welder in business. That’s where I fit in! I recommend you read some of my plastic welder reviews further down and then choose one product from the list.

If you’re a lone warrior and like to do things your way, I’ll leave you with a buying guide at the end as well. This is just to nudge your research in the right direction.

Things You Might Want to Consider While Buying a Plastic Welder

I have already laid out a list of plastic welders that I personally found to be quite effective within their price range. Each plastic welder has a particular set of perks that makes them stand out from the rest.

Still, if you want to look into some other products for yourself, I would suggest that you look into these particular features that might prove to be worthwhile.

  • Consider the Power that It Delivers

It might not seem like “Power” is an issue to be concerned with. But wattage is indeed an issue. The higher the amount of power consumption it has, the higher the possibility of heat output there is. And hotter the airflow of the welder, the easier it will be to melt plastic.

There is something else you should keep in mind. The airflow plays a vital part. Suppose the welder gun takes in a lot of power and in turn delivers hot air. But if the flow of hot air is not consistent it will result in a very poor welding experience.

You might even end up with burned out heating elements and damaged tools which obviously none of us want.

  • A Temperature Dial Will Allow Better Control

Controlling the heat output, you will get is essential when you are planning to melt the plastic of various melting points. A digital dial might do you wonders when it comes to maintaining the exact amount of heat while welding plastic.

The dial doesn’t have to be digital, in fact, it can give a visual indication of how much heat the airflow has. What I am trying to say is a meter that will help you out while welding is very necessary.

If the dial is not attached to the welder it might make things a bit tough to handle. It gets really tough without an accurate indicator of the heat output.

  • Judge Welding Categories And Compatibility Factor

If you have done some sort of welding before, it is very natural that you will know that there are three types of welding. Tack, pendulum, and speed. Each method requires a specific type of fabrication and repairing technique.

Different types of welding tips also can provide a variety of weld styles that can be more effective than others.

A simple tip: contact welders can be rather less efficient as they have a very limited selection of tips. Which means the shapes of the contact point will be limited as well. So, I personally prefer heat guns, as they provide more variety and options.

  • Heat Production Methods May Vary

Let’s talk about basic functionalities. There are essentially three types of welders. First of all, there are contact welders. These do not necessarily use air to melt the plastic.

When you need small but precise welding these are the best kind of welders to have. Welding of structural integrity is not really the task of this particular type of welders.

Heat guns are the second category that channel blasts of hot air to soften, join and reshape solid plastic. This particular style produces long-lasting and durable welds. The bonds are far stronger than contact welds in many cases.

The third type uses ultrasonic waves of high frequency to produce heat and melt the plastic. This type of welders is usually used in factories and laboratories. These are not likely to be seen by your everyday professionals.

  • Consider the Type of Task That You Require It For

The task demands the welder, not the other way around. You have to first decide what kind of work you are looking to do. Each type of task requires a specific type of tool and expertise. High wattage and adjustable heat settings are a must if you are looking to do some professional work.

If you are a hobbyist, or if you just need some simple repairs to be done, you might want to get something of a simpler functionality. Inexpensive options will do you good and finish the task required without any sort of problem.

A Few Words Before I Bid Farewell

With all that is said and done, if you have read all the plastic welder reviews that I have provided thoroughly, you are well equipped to get the welder you need straight away. Each user has his or her own personal specifications and types that they prefer for their personal or professional use.

Considering the budget, you can easily depict each feature a particular welder has.

Examining a product personally beats reading a thousand reviews considered the fact that you know what you are looking for. So be fearless and confident when you make your next purchase.

Just in case you need something for your own research for a new product not on the list, the buying guide in tow with this article should be of some help. Best wishes to you on your welding ventures!
